Today I’m sharing all the curriculum for my oldest going into 8th grade, I really can’t believe how fast years go, is her last year in Middle school, although she still does some extra subjects with us as a family, most of her work will be completed independently, She have ADHD so we will work more on responsibility for her own lessons and time management skills.
**Please remember: You do not have to use the same curriculums I am sharing. Each child learns differently and the blessing of homeschooling is that we have the freedom to choose and change curriculum choices to whatever works best for your child, this will be our 3rd year of homeschool and we have tried some curriculums, do some research and this is what works best for our family and our needs right now.
Languages Art
The good and the beautiful HS 1

It is an all-inclusive curriculum, meaning it has reading, writing, grammar, spelling, memory work, vocabulary, and extra things like geography and art. It is definitely more than enough in terms of a language arts curriculum. The lessons are not redundant but there is enough review throughout of concepts already taught. The curriculum is challenging yet full and rich, this curriculum not only impact your child’s academic growth, but it has a deep influence on your child with an appreciation for God’s creation and has high moral lessons.
She used level 7 last year and was fantastic, this is our first year using a High School level is a little different then the other levels because the curriculum have 10 booklets and isn’t separate per lessons, she will need to make her own schedule base in a due date that I will give her.
Fix It Grammar

It is great for extra daily grammar practice! Each week there is one short lesson taught by the teacher/parent and then every day after they are given a sentence to “fix.” They have to find and mark what it asks at the top (nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc.), they have to fix any mistakes (punctuation, capitals, etc.) and rewrite the sentence correctly at the bottom. She did Level 3 last year (4 pages per week), she will do level 4 this year.
Level 3 and 4 are for grades 6th through 8th. I use the teachers guide! It has all the answers to make it easier to quickly check their work .
Math

After trying Math 7 from the good and the beautiful my daughter was really frustrated with that curriculum, I love TGTB but here is where I always think and said every child is different with different challenges so… I decide to change the curriculum and use Shorman math instead .
We start Shormann math Pre Algebra on April of this year, it has an online format with video lessons and instant grading, very helpful for both of us, she use the instant feedback of her work, it has flash cards so she can practice the rules and definitions of the lessons that she has that week and a quiz every week plus practice test every lesson with questions of other lesson so she can keep practicing and don’t forget them at the end of the practice test she get the result and tell you what lessons you need to practice base in the mistakes you made in the test, I am seeing less frustration in math using this curriculum.
She will continue pre-algebra until December and then she will change to Algebra 1 after Christmas break completing algebra1 at the end of school year.
General science

I really love this science curriculum, it has a lot of hands-on experiments. Every module have multiple experiments, build skills like note-taking and lab reports. It covers a wide range of topics, including the scientific method, astronomy, geology, chemistry, physics, and biology. This curriculum have the option of self-pace course where they have video pre record so you can finish it at your own pace. I opted for the auto grade so she has the immediate feedback about how she is doing . The experiments are pre-recorded too so she can follow what the teacher is doing, and because is not a live class she can pause the video when she needs a break.
This is our first time with apologia and so far we like it.
